Medical Credit Fund has been granted ANBI status by the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration. The Dutch abbreviation ANBI means Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling, or Public Benefit Organization. Institutions can only be qualified as a public benefit organization if at least 90% of their efforts are focused on the common good.

Objectives
Medical Credit Fund supports private healthcare facilities in Africa obtaining capital to strengthen and upgrade their operations in order to enhance access to affordable quality healthcare.
Medical Credit Fund’s vision is to enhance the provision of affordable quality healthcare services in Sub Saharan Africa to low-income Africans. The mission is to enable primary health care providers in Africa to access investment capital so they can improve the quality of their services and expand their facility.
The objectives are to provide access to loans from local banks for around 2500 healthcare facilities, complemented with a comprehensive technical assistance program on quality improvement and business planning leading to external evaluation (SafeCare) of the facility’s performance.

Remuneration policy
The “DG-norm” (also called “MFS II norm”) was introduced by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the end of 2009. According to this salary standard, the directors of organizations involved in development cooperation do not earn more than the basic salary earned by a Director-General (DG) at a Dutch Ministry. Medical Credit Fund adheres to this norm, and is also compliant with the “VFI-norm” and the “Wet Normering Topinkomens”, formerly known as the “Balkenende-norm.”
Supervisory Board members are unpaid. They receive no remuneration or expense allowance. They do have the right to request compensation for costs incurred, such as travel expenses or telephone costs.

Financial accountability
Medical Credit Fund’s financial resources may consist of subsidies, donations, bequests, assets acquired by testamentary disposition and any further revenues. The implementation of accounting and preparation of financial statements has been outsourced to Deloitte.
